music diary 01: sarah kinsley, radiohead, soapkills
Starting a new thing on this blog because I've been getting really into finding new music as a method of procrastination lately. I've gotten into so many genres and artists over the years, but I love how the world is so big that I'll never run out of new music to listen to. So here's who and what I've been listening to while cramming for my med school admission test:
Sarah Kinsley
I listened to her in The King days, but I somehow totally missed that she put out Escaper last year! She's currently my top artist on Spotify just from how many times I've looped this album. I don't think I have one favorite song, but if I had to choose, "Realms," "Glint," and "Starling" are probably my top three. I think.
Radiohead
I've always been a little bit in love with rock. I usually listen to current-day bands(? is there a term for that?) like Måneskin (I got my internet name from them!), but I read The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy at All recently and it made me yearn for Radiohead and 90s rock. OK Computer on a rainy day is always good. Long live green yuri.
Soapkills
I saw a video while doomscrolling about this girl getting an old Lebanese record from an estate sale, which led to a Lebanese music rabbit hole, which led to Soapkills. I don't know Arabic at all, but then again, I don't know Italian or Korean or Japanese either, and that's never stopped me from listening to Måneskin and all my Kpop and Jpop bands. I'm just so fascinated by Cheftak. I think I'll be in this rabbit hole for a while.
